Meeting Friends in Paris

Dinner out with Lola, her boyfriend, and Olatz, photo bombed by one of nice waiters who convinced us to try snails
Josiah and Samara checking out the Greek sculptures
Inside the Louvre, which is its own art piece as a building
We went looking for the Mona Lisa, noticed some graffiti on one sign pointing the way – look closer to see
We all got in line, both Josiah and Siri, remember it being much more crowded and more chaotic – you can just see her in the distance
And Siri, Josiah and David, got the now traditional selfie, “She is much bigger than I remembered” probably because we actually we up close
The Louvre pyramid at night with the Eiffel Tower’s blue search light in the distance
Hanging out at a cafe on a corner close to the damaged Notre Dame cathedral
Our broken down taxi inside the tunnel as we jumped into a new and smaller one for the ride to our place
Our very niceapartment on the third floor, two blocks from the Louvre, only have one key, so don’t lose it.
Gettting a quick rest in our apartment for the next few days to drop the bags and go
Bob, David and Josiah all tried out the snails, yum!

We landed in Paris and the strikes did not seem to impact us, yet, on our transportation into the city. Our Taxi did break down along the way in the worst location inside a tunnel, dead battery, and we waited for another, unfortunately smaller one to complete our ride.

We dropped our bags at our spacious apartment and headed to the Seine. The Tuileries had a large Christmas Market and amusement park going on. We tried out their mulled wine after stopping for a pizza lunch break across from the Louvre. We hiked down to see the damaged Notre Dame cathedral, which makes everyone sad to see. Our former French exchange student, Lola, and her boyfriend, who met us for dinner, commented on how much of a tragedy it is and they both hoped it would be repaired back to its glory.

Taking a friend’s advice, we stopped for a cafe and enjoyed people watching and resting our legs for a bit. It is a walking town, and we have taken that on info force. We hit 26,000 steps by the end of the day.

Josiah remembered there was a “secret” second entrance to the Louvre, and with his guidance, we went underground, and skipped about two hours in line. It is an overwhelming Museum that spans all of history with the items read about i history books are here. Hammurabi’s code was our first stop, then onto many others. One could spend months and still feel like you just scratched the surface.

Dinner was meeting up with our former exchange students, Lola from France and Olathe from Spain. Samara had arranged what was a great reunion. We had not seen them in eight years and it was like no time had passed.

  1. Wonderful pictures. Brings back memories. Idk if I was the friend who said enjoy the cafe scene, but I would have if I remembered to mention it.

You also seem to be on a food adventure, eating things, especially in Denmark, that would cause me to pause.

    Thanks for sharing.
