Day 5: Boon Lotts Elephant Sanctuary – BLES – Sukhothai province, Thailand
We have arrived and have started our magical weeklong journey with the elephants. It is all that we expected and more. The founder, Katherine, has an amazing story of how this all came to be and how it continues to grow – you can follow her on Facebook at BLES and find out more on their website.
BLES is not only a standard for ethical treatment of wild animals, but also is a healing center for the animals who have experienced trauma and the humans who interact with them. More to come on these stories, but this morning we just walked into the woods and literally sat and watched. Even had lunch as they walked by with their mahouts.
Pretty amazing. And we are all week.
