A wonderful 33rd wedding anniversary dinner at the Painted Turtle restaurant on Dutch Lake in Clearwater BC. A big thank you to all our family and friends who have supported us along on this wonderful adventure. Saw

You can just see Siri (in a red jacket) next to the enormous 1,000 to 2,000 year-old western red cedar tree in the Ancient Forest/Chun T’oh Whudujut Provincial Park just outside Prince George

“Tree Beard” reminded me of the Ents – the living trees – from Lord of the Rings

This now protected ancient forest had been planned for a clear cut in 2005 (!) until a botanist and then activists and first nation communities protested. The trees still have the red markings on their trunks identfying the grade of lumber they were planned to become
