A wonderful 33rd wedding anniversary dinner at the Painted Turtle restaurant on Dutch Lake in Clearwater BC. SawA beautiful setting with the snow capped mountains in the background and the sun setting on the lakeYou can just see Siri (in a red jacket) next to the enormous 1,000 to 2,000 year-old western red cedar tree in the Ancient Forest/Chun T’oh Whudujut Provincial Park just outside Prince George“Tree Beard” reminded me of the Ents – the living trees – from Lord of the RingsThis now protected ancient forest had been planned for a clear cut in 2005 (!) until a botanist and then activists and first nation communities protested. The trees still have the red markings on their trunks identfying the grade of lumber they were planned to becomeMore falls – this one was earlier at the Ancient ForestClearwater river valley in Wells Gray Provincial Park Impressive Spahats Falls – many more that we plan to see tomorrowAND we FINALLY found a moose! (At the visitors center)
